French Toast


I had never eaten French toast until recently when I was in recovery from an operation and my husband was on house duties including cooking. He decided it would be something different and fun for the kids to have and it was a hit. Now it has become an easy Friday night favourite or even a breakfast in bed surprise.  I did add a couple of extra flavours to hubbies recipe that made him look at it funny and say “What is that?”. It tasted amazing though and it really is hard to just eat one or even stop at two!

My children Love making and eating this French toast. They can easily help with making it and I find the older children are able to cook it and love to make it for me as a surprise. I hope you like this just as much as we do.



6 eggs beaten
1 Teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg
1 Tablespoons castor sugar
3/4 Cup milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
Can Whipped Cream
Maple Syrup
Bread Slices


In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, add cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, milk, vanilla and mix well together.


Melt butter in medium heated pan.

Pour some of the mixture into a deep plate.

Dip bread in the mixture,  then place in the pan.


Fry for one – two minutes on both sides or until golden brown.

Place on a plate and top with Maple syrup and whipped cream.


I also like to top it with sliced banana pieces.
